Monkey Bread Recipe – Sweet and Sticky

This is my recipe for monkey bread. It’s deliciously sweet and sticky. A fun treat anytime.

Using the bread machine to make the dough, I use the basic white bread recipe. After the cycle of the second kneading (2 hours or so depending on your machine) I remove the basket from the machine which contains the dough.

My table is set up with a pan of melted margarine, a tray of cinnamon/sugar mix, my cast iron skillet which I use to bake the bread in, along with my container of dough. Tearing the dough into small round balls, roll the ball in melted margarine or butter, then roll the ball into the cinnamon/sugar mix. Place the balls into your pan shown in the picture below.

When you have used up all the dough drizzle the remaining margarine or butter from your pan over the balls then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon/sugar  mix. This gives your bread the extra sticky after baking.

Place your pan in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and invert the monkey bread onto a dish (bottom side up). Note: Don’t let it cool completely in the pan as the sugar will harden and be more difficult to remove.

This is what was left of ours, sorry. We just couldn’t wait…………so yummy.
