Are you Dreaming over the Rainbow?

I have to be honest. This was originally going to be a post where I ask anyone who is out there reading all my lighthearted posts about homesteading if they could find it in there heart to help us save the farm.

Rather instead, I much prefer to offer encouragement to any and all who are considering to ride the rainbow and find their pot-o-gold at the end.

My daughter took the fabulous photo of the rainbow shooting through the sky. How many times do we sit and dream of the day when…..? Nothing wrong with that, that’s how they become real to us. Everything begins with a dream in our heart. Are we afraid? Oh for sure. No doubt about it. When we are most afraid is when you know it is right. I remember that early morning at 4am with the car loaded, not having a clue as to where we were going. I was scared stiff. A change was needed and the opportunity was there. All I was required to do was drive.

Here we are 6 years later and still going strong. Thankful to all the people who have helped us and protected us. Watching over us always. They know who they are……

I will quote an excerpt from the book “Dirty Fingers-A Primer in Homesteading”:

I think the character of a person who pursues homesteading is made of boldness, perseverance (or we just don’t take defeat well), enjoys challenges, loves to problem solve, delights in making new discoveries, optimistic. Enjoys laughing, singing, dancing in the rain, drenched in sweat while enduring muscle pain. Loves building sandcastles and chasing butterflies while putting up with three months of torrential rain and getting eaten alive.

Every morning is a “Chelsea morning” and when we lay our heads down at night we know it was a good day.”

Should homesteading be tugging at your heart and you find that you have some of these characteristics then ride the rainbow. Your pot-o-gold is waiting there for you.

A Big Thank you to all my wordpress friends here. You know who you are. Blessings to each and every one of you.

May you each reap a bountiful harvest and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
